Urban Action is a two part program which supports community service projects in the Providence community. The first part of the program is designed for first year students and takes place prior to the beginning of the academic year. The second part of the program takes place throughout the academic year and is open to all students.

Urban Action Summer Program for Incoming First-Year Students

Urban Action sponsors a five day program for incoming first-year students. This program is designed to increase students’ understanding of urban issues while also introducing them to the Providence community. Through UA, students spend three days volunteering at local sites in the city of Providence, and one day volunteering on campus helping fellow classmates move in. Through dedication to service and reflection, they make a difference in their new community. This is also a great opportunity to meet other students and to learn more about Providence College.

Urban Action activities conclude in time for students to fully participate in Fall Orientation. Registrations are accepted on a first come-first served basis. The program capacity is 80 students. There is no cost for participation. Students will be notified in mid-July if they are accepted into the program.

2024 Program Application

The 2024 Urban Action program will take place from August 25-29, 2024. Registration for the program will close on July 12, 2024. Students will be notified if they have been selected the week of July 15th.

We’re looking forward to this year’s program and can’t wait to meet the class of 2028!
